I know I haven't been blogging. I have been much too busy in everyone's garden. Getting gardens tidied and organized is such satisfying work! Gardens look so pretty after being tidied and tamed. I went to the Toronto Botanical Garden rock garden sale and I just have to show you what I bought. Yes that is a $15. price tag next to it! I know..., but plants are my weakness! This is a new variety of bleeding heart. I've only seen pictures of the flower on the bleeding heart and we all know that the reality often does not match the picture, but even the foliage is wonderful on this one. It is a ghostly grey that gleams in the garden. It is supposed to like sun, and I just don't have much to spare in my garden, so it is in dappled shade. I will let you know how it does.
This is the second year for the lime coloured leaves of the bleeding heart and when it popped up in the garden this year it just stood out from day one. It was well worth the investment!
This going to sound maudlin but my Mom in Calgary many years ago had a bleeding heart plant that she nurtured through four years before the sucker bloomed. It was indoors and it was treated like family, not bad for a potted plant. Moms name was Margaret , thank you for the spring thought.
